Welcome to MR. TIMMERMAN'S and MR. GRIFFITH'S blog, which is your method of picking your Living Wax Museum figure or character for Global Studies Class. Here are the rules and process for picking...


Note: CHECK COMMENTS/SELECTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED AS COMMENT ENTRIES TO THE BLOG. PLEASE be sure to SCROLL ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM. Look for the number and word that says something like "13 comments" and click on that to redirect you to a more complete page (i.e. when you scroll to the very bottom it will look something like "Posted by Mr. Timmerman's Class at 9/20/2010 11:46:00 PM 13 comments". 1) You may begin posting your choices at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 24, 2010. Any posts before that time WILL NOT count. . The first post after that time to claim a still available and acceptable historical figure will successfully reserve that character choice (Post your first name & last initial, Your class period/block, Your Teacher's Last Name, and finally which historical figure you wish to select along with the country the person is from). Picking any choices already previously picked by another student in a correct post WILL NOT count (first come, first reserved). If you wish to take back your choice, simply re-post (Delete your previous post if possible) and make another choice that is still available. All students should make their choices as soon as possible and get started on their research for this project. In an imperfect world, this is the most fair and efficient way to determine characters for each student without repetition / overlap, but with as much student choice as possible within the limitations of the project assignment parameters.

2) All of the GLOBAL LEADERS listed in the posting BELOW are basically "TENTATIVE" but pre-approved choices. Alternatively, you may post YOUR OWN GLOBAL LEADER, but any pick not on the list must follow all the project assignment rules and be approved by Mr. T or Mr. Griffith in order to be acceptable (and you risk delay and loss of pre-approved choices to other students in case your choice is rejected).

3) Your famous worldly or historical figure must STILL BE ALIVE and have had some significant historical or modern impact on the World at this time or during their career or political lifetime "in the grand scheme of things" – and from an academic point of view. Sports figures and those in the entertainment industry (actors, actresses, musicians and singers) are GENERALLY disallowed since they may be popular, but it doesn't necessarily mean they have made a long lasting or historical impact on the world or within their country's history.

4) Your famous historical figure must currently be ALIVE, and must have lived in (and significantly contributed to their fame in) any country other than the United States of America. This is GLOBAL STUDIES, not American History! HOWEVER, that being said, if you find a Global Leader you would like to do who happens to be a United States citizen BUT their primary activities have led to SIGNIFICANT global transactions and impact around the world, then Mr. Timmerman and Mr. Griffith will entertain you seeking permission to do that particular individual. There are NO GUARANTEES on this approval so do not do any work or research until you have asked. Mr. T AND Mr. Griffith must BOTH agree to allow the U.S. citizen selection since a student in one class may have already asked and the selection was disallowed.

5) Be realistic: you must pick a historical figure that you will be able to dress up as, and act like a “living statue” of, in several "Living Wax Museum” PRESENTATIONS! You may feel free to select a historical figure to portray who is not of your gender (or doesn’t look much like you) if you wish, but be sure you can make yourself resemble and act like your character choice enough to pull off a good performance and earn a good grade. The further your choice is from your own appearance, the more effort you will need to put into your costume and props to satisfactorily complete this project!

"succeeded" refers to leaders who automatically assumed their position following the resignation or impeachment of a predecessor, and were thus not specifically elected to their post
